University of Basrah Faculty Member Chairs Doctoral Dissertation Committee at the University of Kufa
Dr. Alaa Hassan Radi, a faculty member at the College of Agriculture, University of Basrah, participated as the chair of the doctoral dissertation defense committee for PhD candidate Sabreen Mohsen Hassan at the University of Kufa. Her dissertation was titled “Study of the Toxicity of the Fungicide Topsin in Its Conventional and Nano Forms and Its Interaction with Pseudomonas fluorescens Used to Control Sclerotinia sclerotiorum Causing White Mold Disease on Eggplant and the Estimation of Fungicide Residues.”
The study aimed to examine the most commonly used fungicide for controlling white mold on eggplant, comparing the effectiveness of the fungicide in its conventional and nano forms in combating the disease-causing pathogen. It also assessed fungicide residues in both forms, determined the persistence period of residues in fruits and soil after application, identified the pre-harvest interval, and investigated the toxicity of the fungicide and the biodegradation of its residues by the applied bacteria. In addition, the study explored the fungicide’s physiological effects on laboratory rats.
