University of Basrah Organizes Workshop on the Law for Persons with Disabilities
The College of Law at the University of Basrah organized a workshop on the Law on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, Law No. 38 of 2013.
The workshop aimed to introduce the Law for Persons with Disabilities and clarify the definition of disability within Iraqi legislation.
The workshop included a lecture delivered by faculty member Hussein Iyad, who explained the provisions of the amended Law No. 38 of 2013, which mandates state institutions to ensure that this segment of society enjoys a range of rights. These include legal rights requiring the Supreme Judicial Council to appoint lawyers to defend the rights of persons with disabilities, in addition to providing free healthcare and access to preventive and therapeutic services.
