Master’s Thesis at the University of Basrah Explores Climate Repercussions and the Waters of the Shatt Al-Arab
A master’s thesis at the College of Science, University of Basrah, investigated the impact of climate repercussions on the quality of the Shatt Al-Arab River’s waters in southern Iraq.
The thesis, presented by the student Zaman Hassan Al-Silawi, aimed to assess the effects of climate change on the quantity and quality of the Shatt Al-Arab’s water during the period from July 2023 to May 2024.
The findings indicated that the Shatt Al-Arab, particularly its southern section, has experienced significant hydrochemical transformations largely linked to the pressures resulting from climate change.
The thesis recommended strengthening monitoring systems and water resource management within the framework of climate adaptation.
