PhD Dissertation at the University of Basrah Explores the Semantic Pattern and Its Applications
A PhD dissertation at the College of Fine Arts, University of Basrah, examined “The Semantic Pattern and Its Applications in the Performance of the Iraqi Theater Actor – Selected Models.”
The dissertation, presented by researcher Rana Faleh Lafta, aimed to explore how the semantic pattern operates within the performance of the Iraqi actor.
The study focused on theatrical performance that relies on systems of semantic expression through its aesthetic and intellectual elements, producing a multi-layered visual discourse rich in semantic patterns.
The dissertation concluded that theater, throughout its historical development, began by engaging with various rituals in which the actor’s performance expressed their tools through semantic expressive systems, resulting in an open-ended visual discourse.
