Master’s Thesis at the University of Basrah Explores the Poetry of Rasheed Salim Al-Khoury
A Master’s thesis at the College of Education for Human Sciences, University of Basrah, examined “The Poetry of Rasheed Salim Al-Khoury: A Study in Linguistic Levels.”
The thesis, presented by Duaa Mohammed Kadhim, aimed to introduce one of the prominent Mahjar (diaspora) poets from the Andalusian League, focusing on Rasheed Salim Al-Khoury, and to shed light on a significant yet overlooked aspect in previous studies—his use of language.
The thesis concluded that Al-Khoury paid particular attention to the linguistic aspect, skillfully employing language to serve his poetic experience. His poetry reflected a rich spectrum of linguistic expression, revealing the structural depth of his language use.
The study traced this linguistic construction through various levels: phonological, morphological, syntactic, and semantic, and highlighted the esteemed position of the Arabic language among Mahjar poets.
