PhD Dissertation at the University of Basrah Explores Tomato Wilt Disease
A PhD dissertation at the College of Agriculture, University of Basrah, examined the impact of Fusarium wilt disease and its interaction with heavy metals and salinity on the chemical and physiological responses of selected tomato cultivars grown in the soils of Basrah Province.
The dissertation, presented by researcher Nisreen Jaafar Razzaq, aimed to understand the complex interactions between biotic and abiotic stress factors affecting tomato crops, with a particular focus on this serious fungal disease.
The study concluded with recommendations to avoid cultivating sensitive varieties and to adopt more tolerant cultivars to ensure better productivity under local environmental conditions.
