Lcturer at the University of Basrah Publishes a Scientific Article in the Journal of Biochemistry, Which is Indexed in Scopus and Clarivate
Dr. Ammar Yasser Jassim, a lecturer at the Marine Science Center at the University of Basrah, along with other international researchers, published a scientific article titled "Advanced starch-based films for food packaging: Innovations in sustainability and functional properties" in the journal Food Chemistry: X, published by Elsevier.
The journal, which has a Scopus Q1 and Clarivate index with an impact factor of 8.2 and a CiteScore of 7.2, publishes research and studies related to food chemistry and food processing.
The article aimed to find environmentally friendly solutions for food packaging by replacing starch with plastics.
The article highlights the potential of using nanomaterials and biopolymers found in starch for food packaging, and how to overcome some of the obstacles, such as poor mechanical strength, moisture sensitivity, and poor barrier properties.
