Master’s Thesis at the University of Basrah Explores the Impact of National Income Redistribution and Economic Growth in Iraq
The College of Administration and Economics at the University of Basrah examined a master’s thesis that investigated the impact of the distribution and redistribution of national income on economic growth in Iraq during the period from 2004 to 2023.
The thesis, submitted by student Sumaya Mohammed Ali Abdul-Jalil, aimed to analyze the relationship between national income distribution and developments in economic growth rates.
The study concluded that a relatively fair distribution of income contributes positively to growth, while income redistribution has a negative effect. It also revealed that economic growth in Iraq is volatile and unsustainable due to fluctuations in oil prices and the weak contribution of the private sector.
