University of Basrah Lecturer Participates in Workshop on Strengthening Institutional Capacity to Address Gender-Based Violence
Ms. Noura Hamed Hassan, Head of the Women’s Affairs Division at the University of Basrah, participated in a workshop titled “Strengthening Institutional Capacity to Address Violence Against Women and Girls with a Gender-Sensitive Approach,” held at the Al-Firdaws Association Hall on Wednesday, July 24, 2025.
The event was part of the activities organized by the Women, Family, and Child Affairs Department in Basrah Province, in collaboration with government institutions and civil society organizations. It was conducted under the supervision of the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers – Iraqi Women Empowerment Directorate, as part of the national plans to promote peace, security, and women’s empowerment.
The workshop aimed to build the capacities of judicial, legal, and law enforcement entities by fostering coordination and collaboration to reduce gender-based violence and enhance protection and response mechanisms.
