Master’s Thesis at the University of Basrah Examines the Effect of Bentonite on Broiler Productive Traits
The College of Agriculture at the University of Basrah discussed a master’s thesis on the effect of adding different levels of bentonite to litter on the productive and physiological traits of broiler chickens.
The study, presented by master’s student Mohammed Nadhim Raheem Al-Abbadi, aimed to evaluate the feasibility of using varying rates of bentonite (150–450 g/m²) in wood shavings litter and its impact on production performance.
The results showed that treatment with 450 g/m² of bentonite significantly improved live body weight, weight gain, and feed consumption, highlighting the economic feasibility of this approach.
