Master’s Thesis at the University of Basrah Explores Fatigue Crack Growth in Composite Plates
A Master’s thesis at the University of Basrah investigated the fatigue crack growth in flat composite plates using both numerical and experimental methods.
The thesis, presented by student Maryam Kazem Jalloub, aimed to examine fatigue crack growth in flat composite plates through numerical and experimental approaches, in response to the growing demand for high-performance composite materials, particularly in the fields of aviation, automotive, and marine applications.
The thesis comprised four chapters, in which the student discussed the variation in fatigue life with the spacing between cracks along the edges of the specimen, as influenced by the shape factor, which was found to decrease as fatigue life increased.
