During His Meeting with the University Procession Supervisors… The President of the University of Basrah Urges Maximum Efforts to Serve the Pilgrims
The President of the University of Basrah, Dr. Muhannad Jawad Kazem Al-Asadi, urged the supervisors of the university’s procession to actively contribute to serving the pilgrims of the Arbaeen of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) during his meeting with the officials of the university’s service procession.
The president stressed the need to mobilize the university’s service and human resources to provide logistical and technical support by setting up processions at the Shalamcheh border crossing and at the gate of the Garmeh Ali Colleges Complex to serve the masses of pilgrims heading to the holy city of Karbala for the Arbaeen commemoration of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him). He emphasized the importance of providing pilgrims with all necessary services during their journey, especially given the challenging weather conditions, rising temperatures, and the hardships of the road.
The president further underlined the provision of transportation vehicles to transfer pilgrims, reflecting the spirit of solidarity and cooperation between the university and the community, in alignment with the humanitarian objectives and noble message of Ashura.
Al-Asadi also pointed out that the university has established medical units and a field hospital at the Shalamcheh border crossing to provide healthcare services to arriving pilgrims.
It is noteworthy that the University of Basrah has facilitated the movement of pilgrims through a barcode application that pinpoints the locations of its processions and medical units in three languages: Arabic, English, and Persian.
