University of Basrah Observes a Minute of Silence to Commemorate the Martyrs of the Genocide on the International Day of the Yazidis and Other Communities
The College of Education in Al-Qurna at the University of Basrah observed a minute of silence to commemorate the martyrs and victims of the genocide against the Yazidi community and other compatriots.
This moment of silence coincides with the commemoration of International Day of the Yazidis, a United Nations-sanctioned day to commemorate this humanitarian tragedy that befell an indigenous component of the Iraqi people.
This moment of silence was held in solidarity with the victims and their families, and to affirm the values of peaceful coexistence and mutual respect among all segments of Iraqi society.
The college emphasized that commemorating this occasion stems from a sense of moral and national responsibility, and aims to raise awareness of human rights issues and reject all forms of violence and discrimination.
