Ph.D. Dissertation at the University of Basrah Explores the Experimental Study of Deep Drawing Thermoforming of Polyethylene
A Ph.D. dissertation at the College of Engineering, University of Basrah, investigated the experimental and theoretical study of the deep drawing thermoforming process of carbon fiber-reinforced high-density polyethylene (CFs-HDPE).
The dissertation, submitted by doctoral candidate Mohammed Jameel Zidan, aims to highlight lightweight, high-performance composite materials that are widely used in fields such as transportation, aviation, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), consumer products, and more.
The dissertation comprises five chapters in which the researcher adopted a methodology that combines experimental work with numerical simulation using the ABAQUS/CAE software. The study examined the thermoforming process of these composite sheets under various operational parameters, including temperature, forming depth, and punch speed.
