Doctoral Dissertation at the University of Basrah Investigates Numerical Study of Heat Transfer in a Mixer
A doctoral dissertation at the College of Engineering, University of Basrah, examined a numerical study of heat transfer in a vessel mixer equipped with flexible fins.
The dissertation, submitted by researcher Ali Qasim Abdul Hassan, aims to demonstrate efficient heat transfer between immiscible fluids—an essential process in cases where direct mixing is not feasible.
The dissertation consists of five chapters in which the student investigated heat exchange within tube bundles placed inside a vessel with a rotating frame, under two conditions: with and without flexible fins. Several flexible fins were mounted around the circumference of the vessel. The rotating frame transforms natural convection into mixed convection. The hot and cold tubes are arranged along the perimeter of the vessel, with the rotating frame positioned at its center.
