University of Basrah Participates in the Third Youth Conference for Iraqi University Students
The University of Basrah took part in the Third Youth Conference for Iraqi University Students, held under the patronage of the religious seminary in Najaf Al-Ashraf, under the slogan:
“Our Youth Between the March and Insight… in the School of Al-Hussein.”
The legitimate custodian of the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussein, His Eminence Sheikh Abdul Mahdi Al-Karbala’i (may his honor endure), delivered a guiding speech in which he emphasized the significance of the Arbaeen pilgrimage as a return to Imam Hussein (peace be upon him)—a return to the soul and to faith.
His Eminence addressed university students, urging them to align their lives with the values of Karbala and to pursue the ultimate purpose of creation: knowing God and attaining spiritual growth. He explained that the universe moves toward a defined purpose, and each individual must define the goal behind every action they take.
Sheikh Al-Karbala’i also called for the formation of student mawakeb—both cultural and service-oriented—that participate in the pilgrimage, with the aim of conveying the voice of universities to the broader society of pilgrims and raising awareness among youth about contemporary intellectual challenges.
In turn, student Mustafa Alaa Al-Rikabi delivered a speech on behalf of Iraqi university students. He affirmed that the Arbaeen pilgrimage embodies the values of loyalty, selflessness, and the triumph of truth, stressing the importance of utilizing these blessed days to correct one’s path, strengthen resolve, and renew the covenant with Imam Hussein (peace be upon him).
He concluded by affirming the youth’s role in reviving the Hussaini renaissance and in building a society rooted in its principles.
It is worth noting that the conference was attended by a number of scholars from the seminary in Najaf, representatives of the holy shrines, and approximately 1,500 university students from across Iraq.
