Master’s Thesis at the University of Basrah Explores the Economic Impacts of Iraq’s Accession to the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and BRICS
A master’s thesis at the College of Administration and Economics, University of Basrah, examined the potential economic impacts of Iraq’s accession to the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and BRICS within the context of the emerging new world order.
The thesis, submitted by researcher Wijdan Adnan Al-Yousif, aimed to analyze the economic implications of this strategic move amid the ongoing global transformations. The study explored its effects on various aspects of the Iraqi economy, including trade, foreign direct investment (FDI), and gross domestic product (GDP), with a particular focus on the opportunities and challenges associated with such integration.
The thesis concluded with a set of findings and recommendations, among which was that both blocs hold significant economic and political weight on the global stage. Moreover, Iraq maintains strong trade and investment relations with the majority of the member states of the two organizations.
