Ph.D. Dissertation at the University of Basrah Explores the Impact of Replacing Barley with Urea-Treated Sugarcane Bagasse on Lamb Productivity
The College of Agriculture at the University of Basrah conducted a study on the impact of replacing various levels of barley with urea-treated sugarcane bagasse on certain productive and physiological traits of Arabi lambs.
The dissertation, presented by Ph.D. candidate Alaa Fadel Haleel, aimed to evaluate the productive and physiological performance of the lambs using nutritional levels calculated based on body weight.
The findings showed that urea-treated bagasse enhances the nutritional value of the feed, contributes to reducing production costs, and improves feed conversion efficiency and digestibility coefficient, while offering the potential to reduce reliance on conventional feed barley.
