University of Basrah Performs Surgery on Goat with Acute Mastitis
A team of summer training students from the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Basrah, in cooperation with the Veterinary Hospital, successfully carried out a complex surgical operation on a goat suffering from acute mastitis.
The goat had previously been treated for mastitis; however, the condition recurred with greater severity, presenting significant udder swelling along with other concerning clinical signs.
The medical team decided to perform immediate surgical intervention to remove the affected udder, followed by providing the necessary care and treatment. The goat’s condition has since stabilized, and it has fully recovered.
