Master’s Thesis at the University of Basrah Explores Techniques of Creating Temporary Sculptures
A Master’s thesis at the College of Fine Arts, University of Basrah, examined “Methods and Techniques of Creating Temporary Sculptures – Contemporary Sculpture Festivals as a Model.”
The thesis, submitted by Shifa Issa Ali, aimed to identify the techniques used in producing temporary sculptures showcased in contemporary sculpture festivals between 2011 and 2022.
The research explored artists’ approaches to creating sculptures from perishable and fast-decaying materials, and concluded that many artists employ unconventional media such as sand, snow, or even food materials, giving their works a unique and innovative character.
