A master’s thesis at the College of Administration and Economics, University of Basrah, examined the topic: “The Use of Value Stream Mapping in Improving the Quality of Container Shipping Services – A Case Study at Umm Qasr Port.”
The study, presented by Mohammed Furaij Hameed, aimed to analyze operational process steps, identify waste in time and effort, and enhance operational efficiency at Umm Qasr Port.
The thesis included both theoretical and field studies on a sample of ships at Umm Qasr Port, analyzing their data to determine sources of time and effort waste.
The study concluded that applying value stream mapping improves the quality of services provided to customers in the maritime transport sector.
