Master’s Thesis at the University of Basrah Explores the Historical Study of Abu ‘Amir al-Rāhib
A master’s thesis at the College of Arts, University of Basrah, investigated “Abu ‘Amir al-Rāhib: A Historical Study.”
The thesis, submitted by researcher Nawras Hassan ‘Ayez, aims to examine the figure of Abu ‘Amir al-Rāhib as one of the controversial personalities around whom numerous debates have emerged. His presence coincided with the early stages of the Islamic call in Mecca and its spread across the Arabian Peninsula, particularly in Medina. His positions, deeds, and actions represented a challenge to Islam and constituted part of the complexities faced by the nascent Islamic mission both internally and externally.
The thesis comprised three chapters, in which the researcher discussed the life of Abu ‘Amir al-Rāhib, his lineage, and his socio-religious background in Medina. It also explored his stance toward Islam and its Prophet (peace be upon him), in addition to the covert methods employed by him and the hypocrites in their attempts to undermine Islam.
