Master’s Thesis at the University of Basrah Explores Blockchain-Based Patient Data Management System
A master’s thesis at the College of Computer Science and Information Technology, University of Basrah, explored the development of an advanced patient data management system using blockchain technology.
The thesis, presented by graduate student Zainab Abdulwahid Abdulhassan, aimed to enhance patient privacy protection and ensure the integrity of medical records against tampering or loss by employing encryption techniques and storing data across a distributed blockchain network.
The proposed system assigns each patient a unique identifier that enables secure access to their medical files, in addition to implementing a proof-of-work mechanism to verify data authenticity.
The project also facilitates reliable information sharing among healthcare institutions, thereby improving the quality of medical care while safeguarding against cybersecurity threats.
