Master’s Thesis at University of Basrah Examines Early Nutrition and Production in Quail
A master’s thesis at the College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Basrah, investigated the effect of early feeding with technologically modified diets supplemented with dietary glycerin on growth and intestinal health in newly hatched quail.
The study, conducted by Sarah Iyad Mohsen, included a molecular analysis of the MUC2 gene using Real-Time PCR, as it serves as an indicator of intestinal health, as well as digestive and absorptive efficiency linked to growth.
The findings revealed that early feeding supplemented with glycerin improved yolk sac absorption, enhanced digestion and nutrient absorption, and increased MUC2 gene expression, which positively influenced intestinal health and overall growth performance.
