University of Basrah Master’s Thesis Explores the Link Between Governance and Risk Management
A master’s thesis at the College of Administration and Economics, University of Basrah, examined the relationship between banking governance and risk management and their role in enhancing the value of Iraqi banks listed on the Iraq Stock Exchange.
The study, presented by Zainab Kzar Sahan, aimed to measure the impact of factors such as board independence, board size, audit committees, and risk management on bank value and financial performance.
The findings revealed that governance indicators—particularly board independence and board size—have a significant effect on increasing market value. Moreover, the study showed that liquidity risk management has a statistically significant relationship with governance indicators.
