Master’s Thesis at the University of Basrah Explores Banking Crime under Iraqi Law
A master’s thesis at the College of Law, University of Basrah, examined banking crime in Iraqi law.
The thesis, submitted by student Marwa Abdul Kareem Jasim, aims to shed light on the legal issues surrounding banking crime in Iraq, considering it one of the most pressing challenges to the country’s financial and economic stability.
The thesis is structured into three chapters, in which the researcher discusses the extent to which the Iraqi legislator has succeeded in establishing an effective framework to curb banking crime while maintaining a balance between strict oversight and the freedom of banking operations. This was examined against the backdrop of shortcomings in certain existing legislations and the growing sophistication of technical and procedural methods used to commit such crimes.
