University of Basrah Organizes Seminar on Emerging Plant Diseases: Causes and Impacts
The College of Agriculture at the University of Basrah organized a seminar titled “Emerging Plant Diseases: Causes and Impacts.”
The seminar, delivered by Dr. Mohammed Hamza Abbas, aimed to clarify the reasons behind the spread of emerging plant diseases and to analyze their effects on food security, the economy, and the environment.
The discussion addressed several contributing factors to this serious phenomenon, including the evolution of pathogens, globalization, international trade, environmental changes, agricultural practices, and human activities.
The study concluded that addressing this issue requires international cooperation, the adoption of sustainable agricultural practices, and investment in research and modern technologies to develop resistant crops.
