The thesis, submitted by researcher Noor Al-Huda Mohammed Ali, aimed to investigate the pragmatic dimensions of Qur’anic verses that express preference within their specific contexts, seeking to uncover the implicit purposes behind the texts and the meanings they convey in different communicative situations.
The thesis comprised three chapters, in which the researcher discussed Speech Act Theory and contexts of preference in the Qur’an, implicatures and contexts of preference in the Qur’an, as well as discourse principles and contexts of preference in the Qur’an.
