PhD Thesis at the University of Basrah Examines the Severity of Eind Erosion in Basra
A PhD thesis at the College of Agriculture at the University of Basrah examined the severity of wind erosion in Basra Governorate and the role of soil conditioners in the effectiveness of plant windbreaks.
The thesis, presented by researcher Najwa Rahim Saeed, aimed to study the effect of adding soil conditioners (compost and polymer) and their mixtures on some physical and chemical soil properties and growth indicators of eucalyptus plants planted as windbreaks.
The thesis included selecting six different locations in Basra Governorate as study stations for installing sand traps. The results showed that the addition of soil conditioners (compost and polymer) significantly contributed to increasing the growth indicators of eucalyptus plants as windbreaks.
