University of Basrah Holds Final Round of the Global (3MT) Competition for PhD Students
The University of Basrah held the final round of the global Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition for PhD students, in the presence of the university president, Dr. Muhannad Jawad Al-Asadi, the Scientific Assistant, Dr. Haider Khazal, as well as several deans, department heads, and faculty members.
In his opening remarks, the university president welcomed the attendees and highlighted that hosting this competition for the first time at the University of Basrah represents a distinguished scientific event and a pioneering step in supporting research and developing graduate students’ skills, particularly in simplifying scientific concepts and communicating them to the community in a clear and impactful manner.
Al-Asadi emphasized that the participation of PhD students in this event is a qualitative achievement, providing them the opportunity to present the essence of their research theses in just three minutes, in a language accessible to both specialists and non-specialists. This enhances their persuasion and communication skills, enabling them to transform complex scientific ideas into concise and effective messages.
Meanwhile, the Scientific Assistant, Dr. Haider Khazal, praised the efforts of the organizing committees and supporting faculty, stressing the importance of such initiatives in making the university a hub for innovation and scientific creativity, as well as a bright platform serving the community and development.
The event witnessed the participation of a select group of PhD students who presented their research projects in a simplified and impactful manner, receiving positive feedback from the audience and the scientific committee, demonstrating that the University of Basrah is advancing confidently toward scientific and intellectual leadership.
