University of Basrah Council Holds First Session and Discusses Key Issues to Ensure Successful Start of New Academic Year
The Council of the University ofBasrah, chaired by the University President, Professor Dr. Muhannad Jawad Kadhim Al-Asadi, and attended by his two vice-presidents, the Council Secretary, and all Council members, held its first open morning session for the 2025-2026 academic year.
The meeting focused on discussing several key issues to ensure a smooth and successful academic and administrative start.
The Council discussed in-depth ways to accurately implement the recent ministerial recommendations and the directives of the Opinion Council, with the aim of enhancing the quality of education and scientific research at the university. Focus was also placed on reviewing the Student Information System (SIS), reviewing its readiness and the departments' readiness to fully utilize it to ensure effective management of student data and the provision of integrated electronic services.
The deliberations also included final preparations for the new academic year, emphasizing the need to prepare all educational facilities, laboratories, and classrooms, as well as developing flexible plans to address potential challenges. The Council voted on a set of decisions that support academic and administrative aspects and contribute to improving the educational and research environment, serving the university and its students.
