Agricultural Sustainability at the Core of the University of Basrah’s Participation in the Iraqi-French AgrIraq Program
The College of Agriculture at the University of Basrah, represented by its Dean, Dr. Sarmad Ghazi Mohammed Al-Shawi, along with several faculty members, participated—together with representatives from the Universities of Thi-Qar and Mosul—in the closing ceremony of the AgrIraq Program held at the French Institute in Baghdad, in the presence of the French Ambassador.
The program is the outcome of a collaborative effort between the French Embassy and the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF). It was officially launched in October 2023 at the University of Basrah.
The initiative aims to strengthen scientific research and academic training in the fields of agriculture and sustainable irrigation, while also addressing the challenges of climate change and water resource management, thereby contributing to sustainable economic and social development.
