University of Basrah Organizes a Workshop on Oils and Fats
The College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Basrah organized a workshop titled “Oils and Fats… Which is Healthier for Humans?”
The workshop aimed to raise awareness about healthy nutrition, correct misconceptions regarding the selection of oils and fats used in cooking, and educate attendees on the importance of distinguishing between different types of fats and their impact on overall health.
The event featured an insightful lecture delivered by Dr. Batoul Hussein and Dr. Nors Abdul-Elah, in which they explained the physiological and nutritional differences between oils and hydrogenated fats, as well as the relationship of each type to obesity, along with guidance on managing fats that are difficult to eliminate.
The workshop recommended returning to traditional healthy dietary habits practiced by previous generations, maintaining regular physical exercise to increase activity and burn accumulated fats, and following other guidelines aimed at preserving a healthy and balanced body.
