Master’s Thesis at the University of Basrah Explores Object Detection and Mapping for Mobile Robots in Indoor Environments
A master’s thesis at the College of Engineering, University of Basrah, investigated object detection and mapping for mobile robots in indoor environments.
The thesis, presented by student Raja Wajoud Ali, aimed to develop advanced navigation techniques for mobile robots in indoor settings, in light of the growing use of such robots in sectors including warehousing, healthcare, and manufacturing.
The thesis comprised four chapters, in which the student examined Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) technology as the cornerstone of this field. SLAM enables mobile robots to construct maps of unknown environments while simultaneously tracking their real-time location.
