Master’s Thesis at the University of Basrah Explores Intelligent Control System Based on Industrial Internet of Things
A master’s thesis at the College of Engineering, University of Basrah, investigated an intelligent control system based on the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT).
The thesis, presented by student Huda Sabah Jaafar, aimed to develop an integrated framework that combines IIoT technologies with Siemens S7-314 PLCs, in order to enhance interoperability among industrial systems, provide remote monitoring capabilities, and ensure secure and efficient data exchange.
The thesis consisted of four chapters in which the student discussed the design of interactive Human-Machine Interfaces (HMI) for data visualization, updating, and reporting, along with data storage and reporting mechanisms. The study also emphasized security aspects by employing TLS encryption, multi-factor authentication, tunneling techniques, and tools such as ngrok and Prosys OPC to ensure secure system access.
