University of Basrah Organizes a Training Course on the Role of Chemical Fertilizers in Enhancing the Productivity of Strategic Crops
The College of Agriculture at the University of Basrah, in cooperation with the General Company for Agricultural Supplies in Basrah Governorate, organized a training course entitled “The Role of Chemical Fertilizers in Enhancing the Productivity of Strategic Crops.”
The course aimed to familiarize participants with the types of fertilizers, their benefits, methods of application, and their impact on various field crop groups.
Delivered by Dr. Sundus Abdul Kareem Mohammed and Lecturer Wafaa Abdulameer Ahmed, the course provided participants with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills in fertilizer management to achieve maximum yield and quality of crops. It covered key concepts such as the definition of fertilizers and fertilization, the importance of fertilizers in improving growth and productivity, the fundamental principles of effective fertilization, and methods for assessing crop nutrient requirements.
In addition, the course introduced the commonly used fertilizers in current agricultural practices, the factors determining fertilizer selection, and techniques for calculating the appropriate amounts of single and compound fertilizers applied to the soil.
