Master's Thesis at the University of Basrah Examines the Evaluation of Fidelity in Self-Translation of Trauma Discourse
A master's thesis at the University of Basrah examined the evaluation of fidelity in self-translation of trauma discourse: Sinan Antoon's novel The Corpse Washer as a case study.
The thesis, submitted by student Afnan Hani Mahdi, aims to study Sinan Antoon's novel The Corpse Washer as a model for analyzing self-translation and the manifestations of post-traumatic experience. The aim is to explore the extent to which self-translation can achieve a balance between fidelity, visibility, and fluency, within the psychological and cultural contexts of the original text.
The thesis includes seven chapters, in which the student discusses data analysis of the original text and data analysis of the translated text.
