PhD Thesis at the University of Basrah Examines a Pragmatic Study of Mistranslations of Some Verses of the Holy Quran
A PhD at the College of Arts at the University of Basrah examined a pragmatic-cognitive study of mistranslations of some verses of the Holy Quran into English.
The thesis, presented by student Abdul-Hassan Shareef Jabr, aims to present the problems of translating ambiguous verses in the Holy Quran, focusing on intellectual and religious aspects. It also analyzes the problem of translating ambiguous verses with religious and cognitive connotations, evaluates the impact of literal translation on the recipient's interpretation of divine attributes, and analyzes the impact of transliteration and the absence of a cultural framework on the comprehension of Quranic meanings in English.
The thesis includes five chapters, in which the student discusses the analysis of the samples, the results, the conclusions, and the implications.
