University of Basrah Professor Ranked Among Top Scientists Worldwide
Dr. Muneer Abdul-Jalil Ismail, a faculty member at the College of Engineering, University of Basrah, has been ranked among the top 2% of scientists worldwide from various universities in 2025, according to Stanford University’s global classification—for the third consecutive year.
Dr. Ismail explained that this annual ranking, issued by Stanford University, is based on a comprehensive analysis of scientific publications and citation data using the Scopus database.
He added that the classification covers 166 countries and relies on criteria such as the number of internationally published papers, their scientific quality, the number of citations by other researchers, research impact index (H-index), and excellence in specialized fields across 176 scientific disciplines.
