With the Attendance of the Minister’s Advisor, the University of Basrah Council Discusses the HEPIQ Program for Academic Performance Development
The University of Basrah Council held its regular meeting, chaired by University President Prof. Dr. Muhannad Jawad Al-Asadi, with the participation of the Vice Presidents for Scientific and Administrative Affairs and council members, during the second morning session of the 2025–2026 academic year. The agenda included discussion of the HEPIQ program, designed to enhance academic and institutional performance in Iraqi universities, as well as a review of the results of the second round of undergraduate and postgraduate studies.
The council hosted the Advisor to the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Alaa Abdul-Hassan Atiya, who emphasized in his address that the Ministry remains committed to adopting robust programs that contribute to elevating the standards of Iraqi universities. He highlighted that the HEPIQ program constitutes a qualitative step toward unifying quality assurance mechanisms and monitoring academic, scientific, and administrative performance.
The discussions addressed the program’s practical applications, including the input of student data by both students and institutions, covering curricula, learning outcomes, and research activities. The program also issues periodic reports to support university leadership in making strategic decisions based on accurate and transparent criteria, thereby enhancing competitiveness among universities through objective data-driven comparisons.
Prof. Dr. Al-Asadi underscored the importance of accelerating the training of specialized staff on the program’s mechanisms to ensure its efficient implementation, contributing to the advancement of the University of Basrah’s scientific and research standing.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Dr. Alaa Abdul-Hassan Atiya praised the steps taken by the University of Basrah in implementing the program and advancing toward complete digital transformation in place of paper-based processes. He reaffirmed the Ministry’s full support for these efforts, which align with the vision of improving the quality of higher education and scientific research.
