In the presence of the Advisor to the Minister of Higher Education… University of Basrah Holds the Medical Oath Ceremony for Graduates of the College of Medicine
The College of Medicine at the University of Basrah organized the Medical Oath Ceremony for its graduates of the academic year 2024–2025.
In his address during the ceremony, University President Dr. Muhannad Jawad Al-Asadi stated:
“Today we stand in this academic edifice to celebrate the graduation of a distinguished group of our students from the College of Medicine, who have dedicated their efforts and long nights in pursuit of knowledge. Their recitation of the Medical Oath today does not mark the end of years of study, but rather the beginning of a new era of responsibility toward humanity, society, and the homeland.
Medicine is a calling before it is a profession, a covenant with God and conscience before it is a certificate or a title. Physicians must remain faithful to their patients, safeguarding their secrets, offering compassion before treatment, and dealing with all people with humanity free of social distinctions. Every patient is a human being who deserves to be embraced with kindness and respect, and to be treated as a brother, a father, or a mother.”
For his part, Dr. Alaa Abdul-Hassan Atiyah, Advisor to the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the university presidency, as well as the academic and administrative staff of the College of Medicine, for their efforts in making the ceremony a success. He extended his best wishes to the graduates for continued success, urging them to serve as messengers of compassion and knowledge wherever they may be, bringing honor to their country and their university.
