University of Basrah Organizes Suicide Awareness Seminar
The College of Pharmacy at the University of Basrah organized an awareness seminar titled "Suicide: Causes and Treatments," attended by Dr. Ayman Saleh Nema, Assistant President for Administrative Affairs.
The seminar aimed to educate students about the seriousness of suicide and its psychological and social causes. It also identified warning signs that may precede suicide, presented psychological support strategies and early intervention for those at risk, encouraged open dialogue, and provided information about psychological support centers.
The seminar included a lecture by Dr. Sanaa Jawad Al-Mayah, who addressed several topics, including depression, psychological stress, loneliness, psychological crises, and the importance of social support. The meeting also opened the floor for questions and interventions among the attendees, facilitating a fruitful discussion on prevention and support mechanisms.
