University of Basrah Holds Scientific Symposium on the International Day for Geological Diversity
The College of Science at the University of Basrah organized a scientific symposium entitled “International Day for Geological Diversity: Understanding the Earth to Protect the Future.”
The symposium aimed to raise awareness about the close relationship between geology, the environment, and sustainable development, as well as to highlight the role of scientific research in preserving Iraq’s and the world’s geological heritage.
The event covered several key topics, including an introduction to the concept of geological diversity and its environmental and economic dimensions, emphasizing the role of geologists in managing natural resources and mitigating environmental risks, reviewing unique geological formations in Iraq, and discussing strategies for their protection.
