PhD Dissertation at the University of Basrah Examines the Genetic Structures of Two Genes
A PhD dissertation at the College of Agriculture at the University of Basrah examined the genetic structures of two genes and their relationship to phenotypic characterization and genetic diversity in local duck populations.
The dissertation, by researcher Hussein Majeed Sharif, aimed to study the composition of local white, gray, and green duck populations, trace their evolutionary history through a mitochondrial gene, and reveal the genetic makeup of the gene and its relationship to feather color.
The study concluded that local ducks exhibit a moderate degree of genetic diversity compared to some duck populations worldwide.
