University of Basrah Holds a Lecture Titled “The Mermaid: Between Myth and Reality”
The Natural History Museum at the University of Basrah organized a scientific lecture titled “The Mermaid: Between Myth and Reality.”
The lecture aimed to enhance public scientific and cultural awareness by highlighting the relationship between myth and science.
Delivered by Hanan Jomaa Eidi, the lecture explored both the historical and mythical aspects of the mermaid, linking them to the biological facts of marine organisms that inspired these legends.
This activity is part of the museum’s program aimed at promoting scientific culture and simplifying environmental and historical concepts, thereby fostering interest in natural heritage and raising awareness of the importance of biodiversity and marine life in Iraq.
