University of Basrah Organizes a Specialized Scientific Workshop on Carbon Dioxide Capture
The College of Education in Qurna, University of Basrah, organized a specialized scientific workshop titled “Designing New Metal-Organic Frameworks and Covalent Organic Frameworks for CO₂ Capturing.”
The workshop, presented by Lecturer Ahmed Hamad Ati and Dr. Mohammed Maitham Ubaid from the Renewable Energy Center at Future University, addressed the severe environmental and climatic impacts of carbon dioxide emissions and explored modern techniques to mitigate them by reducing emissions and converting the gas into clean, eco-friendly fuel.
The presenters also focused on the advanced design of Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs) and Covalent Organic Frameworks (COFs), and how to integrate them to develop hybrid materials that combine the advantages of both types. This approach contributes to enhancing gas capture efficiency, increasing storage capacity, and ensuring long-term material stability.
