University of Basrah Organizes a Seminar on Women’s Political Participation: Between Reality and Aspiration
The College of Computer Science and Information Technology at the University of Basrah organized a seminar titled “Women’s Political Participation: Between Reality and Aspiration.” The seminar discussed the current status of women’s representation in political life and the challenges they face in strengthening their presence in decision-making positions.
The seminar aimed to highlight the vital role of women in political life and to empower them to participate effectively in societal development while promoting equality of opportunity.
Presented by Dr. Amal Mohammed Abdul Kareem, Dean of the College of Education for Women, and Lecturer Noora Hamed Hassan, Head of the Women’s Affairs Division at the University Presidency, the seminar addressed the realities of Iraqi women’s political participation and the social and cultural barriers that limit their ambitions. It also reviewed some of the most prominent successful female experiences in this field.
