For Sustainable Development in Reducing Water Consumption: University of Basrah Presents a Study on Rooftop and Vertical (Aeroponic) Farming
The Marine Science Center at the University of Basrah presented a study on the project of rooftop farming for homes and government institutions, as well as vertical (aeroponic) farming.
The study, prepared by Dr. Mahmoud Shaker Hashem, aims to support sustainable development plans by reducing water consumption in traditional horizontal agriculture and finding modern methods and techniques to address the lack of sufficient agricultural space in homes, apartments, and residential buildings due to population growth and the full utilization of land for construction.
The study also discussed the economic feasibility and environmental benefits of the project, particularly its contribution to reducing water waste and mitigating the effects of global warming and air pollution.
