University of Basrah Organizes Workshop on Climate Change and Its Impact on Health
The College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Basrah organized a workshop titled “The Impact of Climate Change on Animal and Human Health.”
The workshop, presented by Lecturer Sarah Salem Mohammed, included an explanation of the concept of climate change, its global and local causes, and its direct and indirect effects on both animal and human health. It also discussed the challenges facing livestock production and the increase in zoonotic diseases.
The workshop recommended emphasizing the vital role of veterinarians in protecting both human and animal health within the framework of the “One Health” concept, as well as the need to strengthen cooperation between veterinary and environmental institutions to confront the impacts of climate change.
