University of Basrah Organizes Scientific Seminar on Urban and Health System Sustainability
The College of Marine Science at the University of Basrah, in cooperation with the Southern Region Directorate for Environmental Protection and Improvement, organized a scientific seminar titled “Building the Resilience of Cities and Health Systems in Facing Disasters Using UNDRR Concepts.”
The seminar aimed to raise environmental awareness among participants and to enhance cooperation between institutions. The lecturer recommended developing comprehensive strategies to increase public awareness and encourage research in this field to ensure a more sustainable future.
The discussion, presented by Dr. Ahmed Hanoon Jassim, addressed the importance of strengthening the resilience of cities and health systems in the face of disasters while maintaining environmental sustainability as a key pillar for continuity amid challenges. The seminar also highlighted the need to achieve a balance between economic development and natural resource protection to enhance the sustainability of environmental systems.
